Spotting a Subtle Error on a Hotel Website

While browsing a (very expensive!) luxury hotel website, I came across this subtle grammatical mistake:

"A thoughtfully curated selection of elegantly designed meeting and event spaces, each combining the essence of quiet sophistication with attention to detail and seamless functionality, feature understated yet refined décor, natural materials, and advanced technology discreetly integrated into the environment."

The error is straightforward: feature should be features to agree with the singular subject selection.

To see if popular grammar-checking tools would catch this, I ran the same text through Grammarly. Surprisingly, Grammarly failed to flag it as an error.

Why Grammarly Didn't Catch This Mistake

Grammarly often misses nuanced grammatical errors, especially those involving complex sentence structures. When multiple phrases separate the subject from the verb, Grammarly's parsing can struggle, leading to overlooked mistakes.

Why editGPT Did Catch It

Unlike Grammarly, editGPT excels at understanding context and handling complex sentence structures. By analyzing the entire context of the passage, editGPT can parse intricate relationships between subjects, verbs, and modifying phrases—even when they're separated by multiple clauses. This deeper comprehension led it to correctly identify the subject-verb agreement issue and suggest the correction:

Corrected: "A thoughtfully curated selection... features understated yet refined décor..."

For technical users, website editors, and businesses needing precise editing, editGPT's context-aware approach ensures accurate grammar checking even in sophisticated, multi-clause sentences.
