How to use the editGPT Browser Extension
Heads up!
This extension only works with the ChatGPT website and requires a ChatGPT account to use. It is a separate tool to the editGPT editor.
For a better editing experience, we suggest you try the new editor.
Getting Started
- Download and install the extension from Chrome or Firefox extension stores. (Microsoft Edge users can install the Chrome extension.)
- Go to the chatGPT website.
- Type in a prompt that includes the text you want to edit, for example: `"Proofread this: [insert your text here]."`
- Send the prompt to the chatGPT AI model.
- In the menu bar at the top of the page, an 'editGPT' button will appear.
- Click on the `'editGPT'` button to turn on editing mode.
- Make any necessary edits to your text using the Accept and Reject buttons. You can also copy the final text to the clipboard (this accepts all changes).
- You can keep the markup when exporting to Microsoft Word by simply copying the text and pasting it.
- Click on the `'Editing Enabled'` button again to turn it off when you're done.
